Education: 

- New School of Music, Philadelphia (studied with Jascha Brodsky) 

- Juilliard School, New York City (studied with Ivan Galamian) 

- Additional chamber music studies with Felix Galimir and Robert Mann   

Career Highlights:

- Invited to the United States in 1968 by renowned novelist and humanitarian Pearl S. Buck on a full music scholarship 

- Member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (1977–1979) 

- Appointed to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in 1979 by Sir Georg Solti, becoming the first Asian woman to join the CSO 

- Performed under esteemed conductors including Sir Georg Solti, Leonard Bernstein, Daniel Barenboim, and Ricardo Muti

- Toured internationally, performing in England, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Japan, Australia, and South America 

- Soloist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and featured in recitals across major U.S. cities, including New York, Philadelphia, and Boston 

- Appeared in radio and television broadcasts, including WFMT live concerts 

Teaching & Outreach: 

- Over 30 years of teaching experience, mentoring students who have gone on to top music schools and professional careers 

- Actively involved in chamber music education, performing and teaching in inner-city public schools to promote music appreciation 

- Regular performer in CSO chamber music concerts throughout the Chicago area 

Joyce Noh is an esteemed violinist, dedicated educator, and passionate advocate for music.

With a career spanning decades in both performance and mentorship, she continues to inspire audiences and young musicians alike.
